Our phones are starting to ring with fervor for the up and coming Kenny Chesney concert in San Francisco at AT&T Park, June 8th. There are going to be a number of events in and around the park for the spectators to see. One of the those events will be sponsored by our local country radio station 95.7 The Wolf. There is going to be a lighting rod of activity in anticipation of the Poets & Pirates Tour that will be starring Kenny Chesney.
There is a large following of listeners of 95.7 and they call themselves the “Wolf Pack”. When someone calls into the radio station they begin howling like a wolf on the radio! It is all in good fun and with Kenny earning the claim of entertainer of the year, I am sure he won’t disappoint the fans. Hanson & Fitch will be providing a number of temporary site services, including portable restrooms, temporary fence, VIP restroom trailers and our crowd control barricade. We look forward to being a part of this great event.

Last Saturday night was the 15th annual KFOG Kaboom pyrotechnics show on pier 30-32. This year featured an outstanding fireworks display synchronized to a World Class Rock soundtrack, 3 Foghead favorite artists on the KFOG KaBoom stage, a Children’s Stage with continuous performances that made it a fun and exciting atmosphere.
Hanson & Fitch Temporary Site Services provided thousands of feet of temporary green barricade for the event and we received a number of emails and phone calls to say that it looked great. Thousands of people came out to watch the fireworks show that was choreographed to music…it is an awesome show. This is one of the first years that there has been an admission charge, but participants agreed it was well worth it. We look forward to next year and being a part of this event.

One of our very good customers is Booby O’Gorman who is the Operations Director for Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA. We spoke to Bobby this week in preparation for this years calendar. Infineon Raceway has some very exciting races this year, the least of which is the very popular NASCAR race that brings thousands of people to the track. The big race is just in time for summer break and is great for families with special packages for all that are interested. The Toyota/Save Mart 350 NASCAR Spring Cup Series race is June 20-22 and tickets are now available.
Our company installs miles of temporary fence and crowd control barricade for the race track and we always look forward to a new season. This year we have been transporting materials to the track ahead of schedule with the anticipation of each race. This helps us with having the right amount of fence on site before each race and allows us to respond quickly if there is a need for additional temporary fence that was not a part of the original plan. We look forward to working with Bobby this year at Infineon Raceway, he is super customer!

I received a call from Keri Steinberg from Jansport Backpacks this week and they are having an event this Friday night at the Mezzanine in San Francisco. Jansport, Om Records & Mezzanine are presenting Spring Sessionsfrom 10pm - 4am. Artists that will be featured will be the Hudson Supreme Beings of Leisure, Samantha James, J Boogie’s Dubtronic Science & Black Spade.
Keri had inquired to see if we had temporary fencing that could be used as a cool way to hang her products from the wall that would be displayed during the event. She had a very specific size that she needed and that it could only be a 6×6 panel chain link fence. I explained to her that we did have that in stock and that we would be happy to set it up and deliver it as soon as she needed it. Apparently, she had called a few companies and they did not have panels shorter than 10′ long. I explained that we had all different sizes of fence that could accommodate her and that we would be ready for her next call!

With all of the anticipation of the Olympic torch coming to San Francisco, our phones have been ringing consistently for the last several days. We have received calls from local event coordinators to the Chinese Consulate looking for temporary site services for their last minute parties that seem to have just sprung up.
There is a lot of buzz in the air and certainly in the media of what we might expect with the spectators that will be crossing lines with the protests that will be going on along the course of the event. Toilets, temporary fencing and barricade are all items that are being ordered on an emergency basis in preparation of tomorrow’s event that starts at 1pm at Willie McCovey Cove in San Francisco. We currently have four (4) separate events going on at the same time and we know that there will be a few more as we get closer to tomorrow. I am also talking to my colleagues whom are also scrambling to keep up with the requests for services. It is pretty exciting.

Over the last several months our company and employee’s have gone through the growing pains of learning a new business and keeping faith that we made the right choice when we decided to add sanitation services to our customer base. We always thought it would be great to do more for the people we served and that it might be an easier method of growing our revenues, than trying to just do more temporary fence.
There are only a few companies that offer both services and we thought that we could do it better! This week I heard from Bill Kelleher at Stuart Rental Company in Fremont and he was coordinating an event on Treasure Island in San Francisco, CA. He wanted to know our availability for a certain weekend and that he wanted to rent some of our popular green bicycle barricade for crowd control. I told him that we were certainly available and appreciated the business and that we also could provide the portable toilets and VIP toilet trailers at the same time if they were on his list of things that were needed. Bill almost fell out of his chair, “You do that also”? I explained that we did and that it was a new service that fit just like cake and ice cream. We were hired that same day by and it confirmed in my mind that we are definitely on to something. We look forward to more desert!

I received an enthusiastic call this week from Denise Rocco-Zilber of Green Girl Events of West Marin, CA. She was doing some looking around at how to incorporate portable toilets and VIP Toilet Trailers into their creative event business that is based on protecting the environment. Green Girl specializes in event ideas that use products and services that create less waste! What a great idea and not to mention timely.
Solar Powered Temporary Restrooms
I explained to Denise that we have had a number of customers order our VIP Trailers that are available as a double and or as a quad. These trailers are run entirely on solar power and only use fresh water. Denise mentioned that this would be a big benefit and would fit in nicely with their niche business. Many times Denise designs her events in areas that do not have access to power (like a National Park or forest) and or the noise of a generator is just not welcomed.
More Demand From Green Builders
We are receiving more and more phone calls from green builders and event planners around the San Francisco Bay Area that have caught the green bug. They are looking for more eco-friendly solutions to their needs. Our environmentally-friendly temporary restrooms and portable toilets are one product we offer.
Recycling Temporary Fencing Materials
You might not think temporary fencing can be environmentally friendly or has the capacity to - go green. We do out part for the environment with fencing materials by building all of our temporary fencing panels to ensure minimal waste of raw materials. We also maintain our fencing and give attention to recycling as much of the scrap material as we can.
We look forward to working with Denise and other green organizations and doing our part for the environment.

I received a call from City of Berkeley this week and they are renovating a restroom core and will be without restroom services for at least 60 days. I knew that we would receive unusual requests for our new toilet trailers, but I figured that they would be rented for a weekend wedding or for daily use at a special event.
I had to think about what a fair price would be per month and also that we would need to service the trailer on weekly basis. I consulted with NuConcepts, the trailer’s manufacturer to see what they rented trailers for on a monthly basis and to ask if there was anything special that I needed to do since it was going to be rented for an extended period of time.
I was told to make sure to inventory the condition of the unit with the customer in writing, almost like if you were going to rent an apartment to a tenant. That way you and the customer agree on what the trailer looked like before the rental period and that I might even take a few pictures for the file. Pretty good advice and I am glad that I asked a few questions before hand.

Food & Wine Event Orders Lexus Logo Screen
We are doing more and more customized “logo screens” for customers that want more than just green or black screen to cover the temporary fence that we install. They are asking for ideas that will create a more personalized feeling for the people that walk into the event and display sponsors that are significant or have some special purpose for that special day.
Lexus is one of those special sponsors for this year’s Food and Wine Event at Pebble Beach. As soon as participants walk into the venue they will be surrounded by the Lexus logo and products.
The screen is a brand new black Elite 85 screen made by CI Fabrics out of Southern California. JT Lawson of CI Fabrics recommended a white logo to give it that extra punch. I think that the new screen looks really sharp and that the folks down at Pebble Beach will be impressed.
